Save a quick trip to New Jersey or Delaware or something, I haven’t left Pennsylvania in over 2 years. So, it was only fair that since Jen comes to visit me so much, I return the favor. Able to call in a birthday guilt favor to my parents for some dog sitting, I left for the airport.
Almost immediately upon landing, the festivities started. We checked into the hotel quickly and went straight to get some drinks. What followed were 3 entire whirlwind days of eating, drinking, eating and eating, with a little sightseeing mixed in. It was nice to be able to put a picture in my head with the names of places I’ve heard discussed so many times, and also to meet so many of Jen’s friends that I’ve only spoken to online. I also bought a ton of books from the wide array of bookstores we went to - the most impressive of which was the Book Loft (above). So many books in fact, that the TSA agent that was searching me on the way home after a scented candle that I purchased for my mother tested positive for explosives made no less than three comments about carrying a library.
All-in-all, it was a great trip, and quite handily the best birthday I’ve had in recent memory. A complete list of the places we visited, ate and drank after the jump.
